Some folks just need to learn when to keep quiet. Case in point, a recent WSJ article questions the logic behind Warren Buffet’s entry into the market and his NYT op-ed piece, stating his belief that it’s time to get back into stocks.  There are plenty of others out there that are questioning his appetite for stocks at this point too.

What people are failing to recognize is that Warren Buffet is entering the market in a measured way. Though the numbers seem huge to those of us who need to plan in order to make our monthly bills as well as invest, if we follow suit and enter in a measured way we’ll reap the same benefits as Warren Buffet.
We don’t have the luxury of entering the market with wholesale buying of stocks and derivative, but we have one benefit that he does not: we can spread money out even more than he can because we are smaller. We can incrementally increase deposits to 401-k’s, buy mutual funds, and teach our kids to invest using sharebuilder.

Even if the market is only half way to the bottom, dollar cost averaging will makes us nice returns in the next 10-15 years. Sure those that are retiring right now don’t have that luxury, but that isn’t Buffets strategy.  He’s looking to leave it all behind and build on his legacy long after he leaves.

Planning for the future requires sacrifice today.  It’s always been that way. Instead of running down those that are planning for the future, we should concentrate on running down those that got us in the mess, helping them pay us back for their transgressions, and then assisting those that need help for the next few years get through them safely and profitably.
