Ok stop me if you’ve heard this on before

The New Moon and the Full walk into bar… I know it sounds like a bad joke but here is the deal. IN my quest to further understand trading patterns and trading noise in the forex market I read a lot of technical analysis books. Some of them are old rehash, but sometimes I read something that surprises and enlightens.

Last night’s read happened to one of those times. Now stick with me because here is where it gets weird. Consider these two items of information.

Sell on a new moon, buy on the next full moon.

Now trading the signal as is without filtering you are right 11 of the 25 times in 2008. 44% isn’t bad starting point. Now, if you filtered it with an hourly signal that looked for signals in the expected direction, I am sure you could do much better than 44%.

Well hopefully I haven’t to many of you off on to many tangents. Have a great weekend.
